To support individuals with the proper guidance and assistance necessary to endure the challenges and adversities associated with being a patient in the United States healthcare system.
Our nation’s healthcare system is designed to treat and diagnose patients based upon the knowledge and experience of licensed healthcare professionals. However, it is also notably common for the voices of patients regarding their illness or condition to be overshadowed or glossed over by clinician expertise. Whether intentional or unintentional, it serves a huge disservice to patients to not be heard or acknowledged regarding their conditions.
Pals of Patient (PALS) will focus on empowering patients to take charge of their health by asking the appropriate questions, utilizing helpful resources, and becoming an expert at recognizing when a further need exists to maximize their healthcare.
Our founder, Lauren Sanders, serves as a passionate witness to the dire need for increased patient advocacy in healthcare. As a survivor of both post-covid syndrome and post-partum preeclampsia with HELLP syndrome, Lauren is determined to ensure patients’ healthcare needs are met and properly addressed by all healthcare practitioners involved. It is additionally imperative for patients to be knowledgeable regarding resources available to assist with meeting their needs.
